The Year 11 students from Whitefield School in Claremont Road, were shocked to be driven home by singer songwriter Demi Lovato.

Chandrika Darbari, Sydeni Penn-Bixby and Jamie Ridley were chosen to take part in a new BBC Radio 1 series called ‘The School Run’ which is online.

DJ and XFactor judge Nick Grimshaw was in radio contact with 23-year-old Demi and the girls giving them instructions as they drove along yesterday.

Sydeni Penn-Bixby said: “We were told we were going to the Hendon Town Hall to speak about the Brent Cross Regeneration. We didn’t think anything of it, and then Mr Harkin told us to get into the taxi. Once we were in that’s when we noticed all the cameras. When Demi Lovato got into the car it was completely surreal.”

The students were driven around by Ms Lovato, who admitted she had never driven a car in the UK until that moment.

They then asked her a range of personal questions ranging from her celebrity love interests to her public embarrassments.

Jamie Ridley said: “Demi is an idol to lots of us girls, when we got out of the taxi I burst into tears. It was an amazing experience that I’ll never forget.”
